North Mendoza, Argentina

This region extends over the lower lands bathed by the waters of the Mendoza River; and includes Lavalle county and part of Maipú, Guaymallén, Las Heras and San Martín counties. Its heights above mean sea level vary from 2,297ft to 1,969ft. They are mainly deep lands with very little slope. This region is characterized by its white wines production, such as the Chenin, Pedro Giménez, Ugni Blanc and Torrontés varieties. The wines acidity tends to be a little low, so it is advisable not to delay the harvest process. As regards red wines, grapes are adapted to produce soft varietal wines.
