| Northeastern Wine Region in ArgentinaSalta, Jujuy, Catamarca and La RiojaThis geographically wide region is located at between 22 to 29 degrees south latitude. It extends over Salta, Catamarca, La Rioja and the northeast of Tucumán. The vine crops are found at between 3,281 to 6,562ft above mean sea level in Los Andes irrigated valleys; such as Cafayate in Salta, Andalgalá and Tinogasta in Catamarca, and Chilecito in La Rioja. At lower heights, the vine crops result severely damaged because of the extremely high temperatures in summer. Below the height of 3,281ft above mean sea level, the heliothermic product rises over 9.00, which is the limit value for cropping. Even though this region presents an enormous latitudinal extension, the crops just grow in the valleys; hence, it is quite limited the planted area that features the height and the irrigation conditions required for cropping. In point of fact, this region represents the 5.48 % of total surface of vineyards in Argentine.
